Introduction
In this paper, I shall discuss on different aspects in regard to compensation and benefits. I shall assume the role of a HR VP just like I did in the previous assignments. I shall discuss how well I can be able to approach different elements of labor relations, so that I can include them in my organizations, a factor that will make sure that the quality of healthcare is improved. I will also provide an outline of compensation practices that can also be included in this organization (Broderick, 2007). In this paper, I shall also provide guidelines on how the organization will successfully provide merit pay for the organization.
Leveraging Labor Relations
For this organization to be able to meet its mission, vision and values statement, it is important for it to have good labor relations. This will involve making sure that all stakeholders within the organization are satisfied with the activities of the firm. In the event that one of the parties is dissatisfied, it could lead to some challenges that will definitely hinder the realization of the goals. Labor relations have for many years posed a serious challenge to operations of many organizations; therefore, it is important for this issue to be taken as a priority while formulating the strategic plan of the organization. Some of the challenges that companies that have not approached this issue with great concern, face are issues like strikes, boycotts, demonstrations and absconding duty among others. The named above are directly proportional to performance levels. It is evident that organizations that face such issues time to time, do not meet the merit of quality service provision and performance. 
It is important for an organization to be able to come up with a system that will be focused on making sure that, such issues are minimized, or eliminated at all costs. This calls for a leverage of labor relations, which in the ultimate will play a big role in making sure that there is increased performance as well as satisfaction of all the stakeholders involved. As a HR VP there are some things that I would consider in a bid to leverage the labor relations. The most important of this is making sure that the decision making process is open, free and fair. This organization is run by regulations and policies, and it is important to make sure that all parties are comfortable with the policies that have been formulated. This reduces cases of rebellion. During the formulation of these policies, which will play a fundamental role as far decision making is concerned, as a VP, it is important I make sure that all interests of all parties have been included. This can be done effectively by selecting some people to represent interests of healthcare employees, the board of directors, investors, the community and any person, who benefits either directly or indirectly in this organization....
