Introduction
There are different functions that the United States law enforcement agencies play. Basic levels of law enforcement agencies are divided into three categories; federal, state and local levels. The structures in each level have been decided in a way that it can be able to address or issues of the public and give them quality service. It is important to note that the three levels correlate to obtain the main goals and objectives intended by the government. Despite the fact that each of these levels has their own goals and objectives that they intend to meet, the overall functionality is comparable. From research data, it has been established that the roles that each of the police agencies have are closely comparable as far their impact to the community is concerned.Basic Functions of Policing
Some of the basic functions of police agencies include law enforcement, arresting offenders, maintaining order, preventing crime and also provision of essential services to communities. The functions are similar to one another; for instance, enforcing laws, where officers are required to arrest offenders, resulting to maintaining of law and order. This is also another way of preventing crime occurrence.
Federal Level of Policing
The Federal level policing includes organizations like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
