Four Stages in the Creative Process
In
regard to Ruggiero, (2009), “The creative process has four stages which are:
searching for challenges, expressing the particular problem or issue,
investigating the problem, and producing a variety of ideas” (p. 105). The
first stage of creative process will involve searching for any available
challenges. During this stage, it is important for a person to be ready to get
used to searching for available challenges. We should note that it is possible
for a person to be creative by responding to some challenges that they perceive
(p. 105). The second stage in creative process is expressing the issue or the
problem. The main goal for this stage is to find the best expression, which can
be able to generate the best solution or the most valued ideas. Sometimes
common mistakes are made during this stage, where one might be tempted to see
the problem from a one perspective. This
means that they close themselves from other views as well (106). Then the third
is the investigating stage. This stage focuses on collecting of necessary
information that can help deal with the situation. This can also involve
searching for experiences and analyzing the relevant information that can be
helpful in a particular situation. The fourth stage in creative process is the
provision of ideas. “The objective of this stage is to produce enough ideas to
decide what action to take or what belief to embrace (Ruggiero, 2009, p. 106).
This means that once a person has been successful in finding new ideas, he is
now in a position to establish the best solution for any given issue or
problem.
Techniques used to develop curiosity
The
techniques I used in developing curiosity from a personal challenge we 1) being
observant, 2) looking at imperfections things, and 3) searching for the causes.
The most important and fundamental and important thing in this case was being
observant. This was essential in making me be able to analyze the excuses that
I had for the behavior. Considering the next issue about looking for
imperfections, I was able to search for alternatives that could help alleviate
the problem at hand, a factor that gave me the ability to identify areas that
needed improvement. The third technique was to identify the causes of the issue
or problem. “The importance of searching for causes is to be alert of any
significant situations or events, which cannot be explained satisfactorily,” (Ruggiero,
2009, p. 119). By being curious to the about the causes of any issues makes a
person to understand the way they can be ore how they can work.
Express the Problem
While
expressing the problem, the first step to consider is to identify the
challenge. There are a series of questions that we need to ask. They include; “What
exactly am I feeling? Is it Sadness or Anger? or is it Frustration? And, what
is the source of this feeling?” from this point, I can have a start line
towards having a solution depending on whether I will treat this as an issue or
problem. After this step, I can move onto the next step by asking relevant
questions like, “How can the problem of procrastination be solved? And, how can
a person manage his or her time effectively?” the third step now will be to
refine the expression generated. This can be done through replacing the
vagueness with some more specific words (Ruggiero, 2009). For instance, instead
of one asking how the problem of procrastination can be solved, we can ask......
