The course provided ample opportunities to analyze and write
about values and popular culture. Assignments such as critical analyses of
popular culture artifacts, annotated bibliographies, and research papers
required the use of scholarly research to support arguments about the impact of
popular culture on society and individuals.
Analyze an artifact of popular culture from multiple

Reflection:
What surprised you about the course?
I was surprised by the amount of scholarly research
available on the topic of popular culture and its impact on society. The course
introduced me to numerous academic articles and studies that provided a deeper
understanding of the complex relationship between popular culture and values.
Reviewing the course objectives and description, what do you
wish you could have learned more about?
I wish there was more emphasis on the role of popular
culture in shaping global values and cultural identity. While the course
covered the impact of popular culture on Western societies, I would have liked
to explore how popular culture shapes values and identity in other regions of
the world.
What is your perspective on how popular culture is affecting
society and you, personally?
Popular culture has a
significant impact on society and individuals. It can shape our values,
beliefs, and attitudes, and perpetuate harmful stereotypes and biases. However,
popular culture can also be a platform for social change and activism.
In your opinion, what will be the next pop culture hit?
It is difficult to predict the next pop culture hit, but
based on current trends, I would suggest that virtual reality and augmented
reality will become more integrated into popular culture. We may see more
movies, TV shows, and video games that incorporate these technologies in new
and innovative ways.
